this image may have errors. look at the younger age ranges. a "male surplus" is indicated by the darker blue color. Yet those lines seem to be the exact same length as the values for female of the same age.

look at age 19 for example. the dark blue indicating "male surplus" seems to indicate that there are a about 3,000-5,000 more males. but the total length seems identical for males & females- about 29,000.

would be nice to check it against source data, I don't see a source provided here.
