not by Copely but of Copely

A simple overlay of the two images, Copely's self protrait and this one of the Baal Shem, will immediately show you that no doubt they are one and the same.
I used Pixlr and fade in and out Copely who's on top, using the "transparency" slider.
The only explanation I can give is that someone took the original image, added a beard and mustache and smoothened the curl in the hair a bit so it should start lower. It may have been Copely himself but I doubt it. Pashute (talk) 00:28, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
