The equipment looks like US Navy Mark V. The helmet nameplate looks like the shape used by A.Schräder and son for Navy helmets. The weightbelt looks like standard US Navy issue, the suit has the appropriate lacing eyelets. The lanyards on the breastplate and boot lacing and straps conform with Navy practice, and the part of the air supply valve that is visible looks right. Even the wing nut to secure the valve when the helmet is fitted looks right. I can see no evidence that it is not Navy issue equipment, in use by a Navy diver, but cannot be absolutely sure. · · · Peter (Southwood) (talk): 08:01, 19 February 2020 (UTC)
- According to the Handbook of Texas Online article on Emerson Emory, the subject of the photo, he served in the United States Naval Reserve starting in the late 1940s, so I think it would be highly likely that this suit would be United States Navy equipment.
