Age?

[edit]

@DanielPenfield: How did you determine this photo was taken in the 1930s? The antenna dates to the 1950s, and the way this user uploaded this as a "b-w" self-upload indicates this is a modern photograph just taken with black-and-white settings, or altered in post. ɱ (talk) 17:40, 11 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@: Educated guess based on how undeveloped the skyline appears. For sure, I zoomed in and based on the graininess and filaments and/or cuts and concluded that it's not an original, but a photograph of a photograph or scan of a photograph. -- DanielPenfield (talk) 18:37, 11 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Some angles deceptively can portray the skyscraper next to short, older buildings, like this image, which if b+w would look much older than this one, taken it seems at the same time. I'm going to remove date info for now. ɱ (talk) 18:42, 11 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The New York Life Building is visible, but the building directly across the street from it, New York Merchandise Mart, is not, so this photograph is pre-1974. -- DanielPenfield (talk) 07:27, 12 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No, I'm pretty sure it would be to the right of NY Life, so hiding behind ESB in this image... ɱ (talk) 15:02, 12 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
