1924 Dodge type A (identified by photographer)

This car fails to match its purported colleagues of 1919

But it does match this example dated 1924 ( if that date is correct) Eddaido (talk) 06:32, 19 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I took the picture and I entered 1919 as the (whiteish) car's date. I don't have a note of why I entered 1919 but I would not have done so without (what at the time seemed to be) a good reason. I'm 99% sure that means that 1919 was entered by the car's owner on the piece of paper that you can see hanging just inside the car behind the windscreen. Might he (she? - surely not...) have been wrong? Sure. Is there any reason to prefer one year (1919) over another (1924)? Not that I'm aware of. Might it have taken five years between the "1924" car being manufactured and being first registered in whichever country it was photographed in? Well ... such things happen. It MIGHT be possible to find a Dodge brochure with illustrations from 1919 or 1924 online that might settle the matter, but I didn't. I would NOT under any circumstances trust an auctioneer's catalogue from three generations after the event. They simply write what the seller tells them, and even if the seller is well intentioned (they mostly are) he/she can still be plain wrong. Anyhow, as between 1919 and 1924 for this picture, I have no further thoughts to offer. Best wishes Charles01 (talk) 07:40, 19 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
