Development of the gasoline engine after 1889 lead to the leaving of Trépardoux in 1893, and subsequent renaming the company from De Dion, Bouton & Trépardoux to De Dion-Bouton. He was a civil engineer specialized in steam power, and quite sure the designer of the De Dion axle (which was not used on the tricycle), but he was not involved in the development of this motor tricycle. Georges Bouton did most work on the engine, finishing a design started by Delalande outside of the company, but paid by Albert de Dion. It seems that Bouton also conceived the tricycle. First examples were tested in 1895, with early deliveries stating in early 1896. Regular production started in 1897, and the product was improved and sold until 1903.--Chief tin cloud (talk) 12:37, 31 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
