Needs a legend

This image is almost impossible to understand. To start with, what do the colors mean? There is no legend here, although some of the [articles that use this image] state "(green:electrons and purple:holes)". Where does that information originate?

Also, this is an animated GIF. What is the significance of the animation? Is this increasing and then decreasins the intensity of a light? If so, what are the time steps? Geoffrey.landis (talk) 21:20, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
