This is a 1900 De Dion-Bouton 3½ HP Type E Voiturette with Imperial Double Phaeton special coachwork by H. J. Mulliner. Chassis no. is 971, engine no. is 1980.

This chassis was generally used for the Vis-à-vis. Type E was a transitional model, combining the earlier 3½ HP engine with the Type G chassis that featured a steering wheel, and new drum brakes, acting on rear wheel hubs by lever. The Imperial Double Phaeton was a very rare British De Dion Bouton catalogue offering.--Chief tin cloud (talk) 07:42, 12 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
