In 1855 what could possibly have been the heat source for cooking such a thing? Gas is conceivable but pretty unlikely. I think electric can be ruled out. There does appear to be a rectangular block behind the alleged stack of meat, but I can't imagine such a thing holding burning wood, charcoal, coal, etc. I'm not sure vertical rotisserie is practical without a gas or electric fuel source. I could also imagine the thing had been cooked horizontally and was stood up on the table like that for serving, but then why the rectangular block behind it?--Ericjs (talk) 22:27, 2 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
