Cat

[edit]

Cat as "Category:port cranes" ?

This is a "crane in a port", but it's not a crane used for the transhipment of goods, i.e. the business of a port, ergo not a port crane as such for the purposes of categorization. Andy Dingley (talk) 09:55, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but that definition is rather sneaky, since it argues that port cranes automatically are for goods transshipment only. This crane use (lifting boats) is useful only in a port, so "port crane" makes perfect sense to me, while "cranes in a port" is rather cumbersome, and might even be considered a topcat above your definition of "port cranes".
I am not opposed to a clarification of the sorting structure here, but it would need to be something along the line of "ship hauling crane" as a subcat of "port cranes" or such, rather than kick it out of the "port cranes" cat. Ingolfson (talk) 22:55, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
