How about using he same color scheme for the same countries?

Personally, I do use the one below --Traut (talk) 14:19, 21 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Color hex Country
3c3b6e US (dashed)
ff0000 Canada (dashed)
009C3B Brazil (dashed)
006341 Mexico (dashed)
ffdd00 Ecuador (dashed)
ef3340 Spain
007a33 Italy
0055a4 France
ffcd00 Germany
cc66ff United Kingdom
Hi Traut, it would be a good idea to have a uniform colour system. But your scheme doesn't help me much yet, as the Covid focus has moved away from European countries and I need colours for Brazil, Russia and shortly India, Mexico and Peru. Already your Canada and Spain are a bit close. Is there an accepted scheme? Chris55 (talk) 11:07, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That's why it would be a work in progress. For India I'd suggst Deep Saffron (#FF9933). Canada is dashed, so you can't mix it with Spain - see my chart below. I'd suggest to use e.g. a dotted line vor Asia. Brazil could use a dashed North Texas Green (#009C3B). Ecuador could be a dashed Golden Yellow (#ffdd00). Mexico is not that easy, maybe a dashed Cadmium Green (#006341). And Russia: Dark Powder Blue (#0033A0). It's not possible to define 400 countries with just five colors and three line styles - but it would simplify any comparison if at least the most important countries would share the same colors. As mentioned before, I do pick the colors from their flags. --Traut (talk) 11:21, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Using dotted lines is a good idea but I'm not sure that national colours are distinctive enough to be very useful. There are only half a dozen on most flags as they tend to stick to primary colours. Chris55 (talk) 20:10, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
True, there are just not enough colors to differ all countries. But for many countries this color gives an immediate impression - such as red for Canada and Suisse. So it's reasonable to use this color for those countries first. If red is Canada, white is not around, then blue remains for the USA (American continent) and France (Europe: en:Bleu de France (colour)) --Traut (talk) 20:39, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
