Identification

[edit]

@Meisam and Thiotrix: Hello. This cannot be Coprinellus micaceus, which has a stout white stem, a deep enclosing cap shape, and simple vertical striations. With its thin transparent stem, I think this may be a Parasola, such as P. plicatilis, or perhaps some other Coprinellus. Strobilomyces (talk) 18:05, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Because of the bell-shaped cap, I think this is more likely to be Coprinellus. It may be a species local to New Zealand. I will change the category and remove the following text which I think is inappropriate: "Coprinellus micaceus is a common species of fungus in the family Psathyrellaceae with a cosmopolitan distribution. The fruit bodies of the saprobe typically grow in clusters on or near rotting hardwood tree stumps or underground tree roots." Strobilomyces (talk) 16:14, 2 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
