Is it a living animal?
[edit]I tagged it as a sculpture (Category:Sculptures of frogs), but the tag was reverted. I'm pretty sure this is a sculpture, a very realistic one, but a sculpture nonetheless. Look at its hand, for instance, it was clearly painted there. - QueijoQuente (talk) 23:25, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
- @QueijoQuente: If you look at the original Flickr feed, the source is a biologist living in Central America who specializes in tropical frogs. If you want to find out for sure, you should ask him and not just guess. —howcheng {chat} 20:19, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Howcheng: I've asked the picture's author, Brian Gratwicke on Flickr, about this picture and this one. I'm not entirely sure how to share his original message here (a screenshot or something? He'd have to agree to it) but I've asked whether or not these are sculptures, and if so, who's the artist. His answer was simply "They are tagua by Lanky Cheucarema". A quick search through Gratwicke's submissions looking for the keyword "tagua" produces a set of pictures depicting frogs sculptures (one of them for sale) and one picture of a man holding one of the sculptures titled "Lanky with his Atelopus limosus artwork, carved on tagua". It seems that "tagua nuts" are used for sculpting, according to this wikipedia page. I think it's safe to say that these are indeed sculptures. - QueijoQuente (talk) 23:42, 7 August 2020 (UTC)
