"Do not modify other people's work without their consent"

[edit]

@Kj1595 you do realize that's not a rule, right? You're freely allowed to edit anyone else's work on Commons.

(also paging @Thespoondragon since hes involved) NorthTension (talk) 15:58, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No, you are not. You can't change the entire background color of a shield that someone else created. You can do that with your own work but not another user's work. Only minor edits are allowed that are barely noticable to the naked eye. Kj1595 (talk) 16:15, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Can you find where in the rules that's stated? NorthTension (talk) 16:37, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Minor and uncontroversial color corrections of existing files => Commons:Overwriting existing files Kj1595 (talk) 01:40, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That has nothing to do with modifying other people's work nonconsensually. NorthTension (talk) 03:44, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Changing the entire color background of the shield goes against the official guidelines as described in the link I provided. End of discussion. Kj1595 (talk) 11:27, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's not end of discussion, while @Thespoondragon probably should have uploaded another file, there is no such rule protecting your work from modification. NorthTension (talk) 11:43, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You are getting caught up in semantics. My original hasty explanation does not in any way change the fact that Thespoondragon's edit violated Commons policy. Kj1595 (talk) 11:49, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Adding a flag version based on this coat of arms

[edit]

Hello again, Kj1595. Would it be possible for you to add a flag version based on this coat of arms (as long as it's historically correct)? The current one used on wikipedia:Principality of Kastrioti looks like it could use some work. Xhulianoo (talk) 21:32, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

That flag shouldn't exist in the first place. Kj1595 (talk) 11:41, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Then I wonder why no one has removed it yet. Xhulianoo (talk) 16:01, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
