Coat of Arms of the Harington family

[edit]

These arms are wrong as they depict the Coronet of a Baron (four pearls showing), not a Baronet. The Haringtons of Ridlington are Baronets, not Barons. The last Baron Harington died in 1614 without issue and the Barony became extinct. Barons were not permitted to add Coronets to their arms until 1661 and so the 2nd Baron Harington was not entitled a Coronet during his lifetime. Baronets are not entitled to a Coronet and their arms should be that of a knight. A Baronetcy is little more than an hereditary knighthood. Duncanharrington (talk) 12:31, 9 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
