I cannot read the inscription, but МЬЧЬ appears to be "sword" and СѢКИТЕ "cleave" (imperative plural), so it is clearly not the text of Matthew 10:34, but "[something something] a sword [something] you shall cleave [something something]", which does not seem to be a biblical passage. johnsanidopoulos.com, translating dogma.gr (2013) "The inscription on the left side of the fresco, when looking at it, indicates that it is a spiritual sword that 'cuts' sin from man." [Στην επιγραφή που υπάρχει στην αριστερή πλευρά, βλέποντας την εικόνα, αναγράφεται ότι πρόκειται για πνευματικό ξίφος το οποίο «κόβει» την αμαρτία από τον άνθρωπο.] This has got to be a loose translation, but "sin" would be грѣхъ, which may just barely be legible in the second line but one. --Dbachmann (talk) 07:49, 30 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
