Sakhalin

Sakhalin is claimed by modern Chinese irredentists as a former part of China; this map doesn't include it as Chinese land so it's making a specific statement that the modern irredentist claims are wrong. Geographyinitiative (talk) 08:56, 2 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If that's true, it's not something to be discussed here because maps on Wikimedia don't have to be neutral. If you think that Sakhalin belongs on this map, you're welcome to make your own version and argue for using your map instead on Wikipedia. SilverStar54 (talk) 21:22, 4 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not saying is that this map should have Sakhalin. I'm saying that it does not reflect the opinion that Sakhalin was part of the Qing Empire. I'm not sure what that ultimately means- whether that's "right or wrong". But it is significant to the modern interpretation of the full extent of modern irredentist claims. --Geographyinitiative (talk) 23:52, 4 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, I'd agree that there are certain contexts where showing the Qing territorial claim would be relevant. But if you're not saying this map should include Sakhalin I'm kind of confused what change you're suggesting. SilverStar54 (talk) 06:14, 17 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
