This portrait purporting to be of Caroline of Waldeck & Pyrmont, first wife of Duke Peter von Biron of Courland, is incorrect. This image is actually a wedding portrait of Duke Peter's third wife, Dorothea von Medem (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dorothea_von_Medem) -- compare the portrait shown here (http://www.delfi.lv/kultura/news/culturenvironment/latvijas-vestures-relikvijas-polu-laiki-un-glika-tulkota-bibele.d?id=43428515&page=4), which is similar but not identical to an image emailed to me several years ago by Director Imants Lancmanis of the Rundale Palace Museum (http://rundale.net/en).

A correct portrait of Caroline of Waldeck and Pyrmont can be found on the French and Russian Wikipedia pages (https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%9A%D0%B0%D1%80%D0%BE%D0%BB%D0%B8%D0%BD%D0%B0_%D0%9B%D1%83%D0%B8%D0%B7%D0%B0_%D0%92%D0%B0%D0%BB%D1%8C%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BA-%D0%9F%D0%B8%D1%80%D0%BC%D0%BE%D0%BD%D1%82%D1%81%D0%BA%D0%B0%D1%8F , https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caroline_de_Waldeck-Pyrmont) referencing a German source (https://www.deutsche-digitale-bibliothek.de/item/HL3QDPTICPBA7RSXLIWJTI77PD4GUESE).

My suspicion is that the image Dr. Lancmanis emailed me is the original Barisien, while the one currently posted as being of "Caroline" is based on the Barisien.

I've never inserted or replaced an image in a Wikipedia article, so any advice would be appreciated. Ejbarnes MA USA (talk) 14:51, 4 May 2018 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ejbarnes MA USA (talk • contribs) 16:56, 30 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
