Sorry: this image dates from 1921. It was designed by my grand-father, Mr Henri Cahen, who was one of the managing director of the Caïffa.

If he was your grandfather, you should know when he died? With that date, we can determine if it really is PD (it is if he died in 1936 or earlier). If it is not PD, we could assume that you as a direct descendant have inherited the rights to this picture. You could then grant a license that is acceptable for Commons, like GFDL or CC, and the image would not have to be deleted in either case. But you would have to document the permission by sending an email to the OTRS. Regards --Rosenzweig 08:52, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I noticed one more problem: you say your grandfather designed this poster. Does this also mean the image that is used was made by him? The image is the problem here, the letters etc. are not protected. --Rosenzweig 09:18, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
My grand-father died in 1946. From my mother, the drawing (it is not a photo) was drawn by an employee of the company under his control. Regards--FLLL 13:42, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've asked what to do about this picture here: Commons talk:Licensing#Image:Caïffa poster.jpg. Regards --Rosenzweig 18:11, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
