FW-189 or BV-141?

[edit]

This sure is a very unusual design for the rear MG mount. The asymmetrical build hints at a BV-141 (thus the "firendly fire" protection for the fuselage to the left). However, some details of the glass cnopy look more like a FW-189. Either way, this is a unique design, maybe belonging to a prototype? With google, no other pictures of an 189 or 141 show this special configuration. 89.183.85.4 12:39, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Now found a picture of the tail construction (http://www.preservedaxisaircraft.com/Luftwaffe/relics/images/Fw189_cone_turret.jpg), preserved at a museum in Dresden: Looks like the whole assembly could be turned 360° on the ringmount, and that the wartime pictures just show the whole thing at a 8 o'clock position (normally, the MGs pointed downward, I guess). 89.183.85.4 13:55, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
