Surely this is a freshwater lake? Category:Sea ice is not correct, I will revert. /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 21:55, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No, Brunnsviken is actually a bay of the Baltic Sea. --Zejo (talk) 21:57, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The salinity of the Baltic Sea is already much lower than that of oceans. Brunnsviken is only connected to the Baltic by a narrow canal. If the water is brackish at all, its salinity must be very low. Too low to call this "sea ice". /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 22:16, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
So what is it, if it's not sea ice? It can't be a frozen lake, since it's not a lake.--Zejo (talk) 22:23, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
But it is a lake. Although "viken" literally means "bay", this body of water had become a lake due to postglacial rebound. Then in 1860 a canal was dug that connected the lake to the sea, sinking its water level by more than a meter. But that does not make it a bay. /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 22:54, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You are absolutely right Pieter, it is a lake. Particularly embarrasing for me to admit, since I used to live right next to Brunnsviken, believing that it was a bay! --Zejo (talk) 10:37, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
