Working on Category:Big Southern Butte and found this image. It does not match the setting for the w:Big Southern Butte located in Idaho. All the other images do.

Checking the source, Flicker,

  1. Subject line: AA Flight from DFW - YKA...
  2. META data shows it was taken with a 70 mm lens. Therefore, this is a large mountain group for the size in a commercial air flight. I would expect a 600 mm lens could replicate this closeup view of the Idaho butte.
  3. Descriptor: Big Southern Butte in Idaho
  4. Previous image in flicker: the flight from Kamloops to Vancouver ...rugged glacier clad peak in the Coast Mtns near Vancouver...
  5. Following file: AA Flight from Miami to Dallas-Fort Worth...spectacular dawn over Dallas-Fort worth on the way into DFW...

Wikimedia description says:

  1. Aerial view of southwest aspect of Big Southern Butte on flight from DFW - YKA.
  2. DFW => Dallas - Fort Worth
  3. YKA => Kamloops, BC

The image matches the 'rugged glacier clad peak in the Coast Mtns near Vancouver, not the arid lone peak in the Idaho Snake River valley. Cannot located a Big Southern Butte or 'Southern', 'South', or any combination of Big, Southern, Butte, Mountain, etc. in the Kamloops or Vancouver area.

This may be the Big Southern Butte in Idaho or another peak in British Columbia. Chris Light (talk) 17:13, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
