This building was completed in 1873 and was originally owned by Dr. Holtz. It was acquired in 1924 by Salo Feuerwerk of Vienna, Austria. It was then expropriated / stolen by Nazi Germany in 1938. In 1948 it was again stolen by Communist Germany.

After Reunification in 1991, the German Ministry of Justice headed by Sabine Leutheusser Schnarenberger and Theo Waigel of the Ministry of Finance refused to return 8 buildings in East Germany belonging to 6 Austrian Jewish citizens. The owners of the building received the equivalent of 3% of the value of the building by the New Reunified Germany. In conclusion the building was legally expropriated / stolen 3 times by the German Government, similar to the German Nazi Government. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Semsemsalo (talk • contribs) 20:25, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
