This graph is definitely wrong

First of all, by looking at the B-52 data for the B-52B and B-52H versions it's quite clear that they're not using fixed prices. The H-version is priced in 1998 dollars, while the B-version is priced in 1955 dollars, effectively adding a non-existent "cost" in the form of 1955-1998 inflation. Even worse is that the B-52B data also contains a decimal error giving its cost as $1.44 million when it should have been $14.4 million. The costs for a per aircraft need to be given using some common year's dollar value. The trend towards more expensive planes may hold (indeed, I strongly suspect it does), but that makes it even more important not to muddle the issue by mixing inflation into the matter.
