The map is wrong

[edit]

Airship Italia also went through Czechoslovakia. Here is picture which shows the route through the Czech lands. The airship was caught by stormy weather and had to return and then go different way, to Gleiwitz and Breslau. The map is from Czech language article about the expedition.

Here is another Czech language article detailing the route. The airship left Milano (not Rome) on April 15 at 01:50 and planned to go to Jesseritz near Stolp (now Słupsk, near Stettin). From Trieste they went to Vienna (at 13:00), around 16:00 they were over Brno. People gathered there in large groups to see the airship. After 19:00 they were hit by stormy weather in border mountains, and wandered around without knowing where exactly they are. At 21:30 radio-goniometry from Prague reported them to be near Brno again, though this measurement remains disputed. At 22:45 they reached Silesia, few minutes after 24:00 they tried to land but it failed. On April 16, at 02:00 they reached Opole, at 02:40 Breslau and finally, at 08:35 they landed in Stulp, with the airship quite damaged.

The article also mentions that František Běhounek completely omitted the route through Moravia in his writings.
