Dubious description

This does not look like an Ottoman miniature or like a representation of Ahmad al-Mansur or any other Moroccan sultan. If I had to guess, I'd say the miniature is maybe South Asian. Either way, I haven't been able to find any reliable (academic) source to support the claim that this is Ahmad al-Mansur, despite the many books and articles written about him. A representation of a non-Ottoman leader by a 17th-century Ottoman miniature, especially a seemingly triumphant representation like this one, is rather unlikely and would need to be backed up by scholarly sources describing it as such. Instead, the source provided here is a web article that's not written by a scholar or art historian, and is therefore not reliable per en:WP:RS. It also does not provide any provenance for the image (i.e. the collection or the museum where the miniature is housed), making it nearly impossible to further research it.

I would strongly recommend not using this image on Wikipedia unless/until the claim here is verified by a proper scholarly source. R Prazeres (talk) 00:03, 3 December 2023 (UTC)
