Source=UK/New Zealand Post Office

[edit]

As a source, we usually indicate a physical source of an image uploaded. This could be a website, a scanned stamp from own collection, a scanned stamp borrowed from a friend, a scanned image of a particular book or magazine and so on. At the moment, one could suggest that the uploader visited both UK and New Zealand Post Offices and scanned the stamp there. --Michael Romanov (talk) 21:30, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I still doubt that the uploader visited both UK and New Zealand Post Offices and scanned the stamp there. Where does the stamp come from? From a personal collection? Is this a scan? Or was it taken from a website? --Michael Romanov (talk) 13:01, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Gwillhickers, I don't believe that "UK/New Zealand government" or "Post Office" could be a physical source of the FILE you uploaded (not of the stamp showed on the file!). Please provide an adequate physical source of the file, which could be a scan of the stamp from your own collection, a website (with URL of the web page that shows it), or a scan/photo from a book/magazine. --Michael Romanov (talk) 20:30, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, "commercial source" is inappropriate (see File talk:Australia Bird 1937 Issue-6d.jpg#Commercial source?). And it is nothing to do with "UK" in this case. --Michael Romanov (talk) 04:57, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Author=UK/New Zealand Post Office/ photo

[edit]

Author could be an entity or a person that produces an image. I doubt there is a need to indicate UK for New Zealand stamps. And who is the author of the photo? Photo per se could not be an author. And is this a photo or a scan? --Michael Romanov (talk) 21:40, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Who is the author of the photo? Is this a photo or a scan? --Michael Romanov (talk) 13:02, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I repeat my question. Who is the author of the photo? Is this a photo or a scan? --Michael Romanov (talk) 20:31, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Do you really need to add "photo" here? I would not. "Photo" is not the author. --Michael Romanov (talk) 04:57, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Licensing

[edit]

I already suggested the right place to look for the right license tag, which is Commons:Stamps/Public domain templates. At the moment, it's wrong. Sorry. --Michael Romanov (talk) 21:49, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

For the correct licensing tag, please check out Commons:Stamps/Public domain templates. --Michael Romanov (talk) 14:17, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The license is still incorrect. Please check the above list of the correct license tags. --Michael Romanov (talk) 20:32, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Can't you see the right license template in this list? --Michael Romanov (talk) 04:57, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Category

[edit]

An algorithm for categorizing stamps is described here. The topical category is missing. Sorry. --Michael Romanov (talk) 21:57, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

For the correct categorizing, please check out w:Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Philately#Commons uploads. And this stamp definitely does not belong in Category:Stamps of the United Kingdom. --Michael Romanov (talk) 14:22, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This stamp does NOT belong in Category:Stamps of the United Kingdom. This is for sure. --Michael Romanov (talk) 20:34, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Category:Stamps of the United Kingdom is not the right category for a NZ stamp. Please use, instead, a topic category from the minimal 'package' as shown in w:Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Philately#Commons uploads. --Michael Romanov (talk) 04:57, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Information template

[edit]

Ouch! The Information template is destroyed now. Please be careful and not sloppy. Thank you. --Michael Romanov (talk) 16:06, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You must have come in right in the middle of my edit session. Template OK. Also, before I added the PD-NZ tag, yet it was removed again. Just wondering why. Gwillhickers (talk) 21:06, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I did not remove the tag. I just undo your edits to restore Info template. So, please go ahead and add PD-NZ. Thanks. --Michael Romanov (talk) 22:04, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
