Misidentified

[edit]

This is not actually Adelpha viola pseudococala, but is rather a male specimen of Adelpha cocala orellanae. The two look very similar, but quickest and easiest way to tell is to count the dark lines crossing the discal cell of the front wing (there is one more in A. viola than in A. cocala), but there are other distinctive differences in the pattern as well, such as the more strongly indented middle portion of the marginal pattern bands on the hind wing (cell M2).
