[edit]Since 15 october 2012, there is a category called "Pythagorean_tiling" that contains 31 images at the present time. Here are these images.
According to the introduction sentence of the category, a "Pythagorean tiling" would be "a tessellation of the plane by squares of two different sizes, used as a design pattern and as the basis for multiple proofs of the Pythagorean theorem". However, in case of isosceles right triangles, the Pythagorean theorem can be proved also through a tiling, invented from the right triangle. In this particular case, any vertex of any tile belongs to four congruent tiles: the tiling is regular. The creator of "Category:Pythagorean_tiling" had given to "Pythagorean tiling" the same meaning on Wikipedia. And "Category:Pythagorean_tiling" was for me an occasion to question the author about this meaning. But he has chosen to say nothing about the case where the initial triangle is isosceles.
The current page "Category:Pythagorean_tiling" displays four parent categories:
Pythagorean theorem | Squares (shape) | Tessellations | Wallpaper group p4
Someone searching images about a mathematical subject like a group of transformations (example: "Category:Wallpaper_group_p4") or the Pythagorean theorem discovers images in a category. Such a category must not contain images that could be a base to create other images, which could explain this or that in mathematics. For example, we learn nothing in mathematics by looking at a photo taken in a town, where we can find a pavement that looks like a wallpaper. Conversely, Wikimedia must allow everybody to look at a gallery of wallpapers without worrying about mathematics in any way.
No mathematical subject on the image corresponding to this discussion page.
The image and its other versions belong to the following categories:
Category:SVG patterns
Category:Tessellations
Category:Squares (shape)
Category:SVG regular polygons
