Aerial bombardment source

[edit]

Rr016, What is the source of the location pins for the aerial bombardments? Matt Heard (talk) 07:40, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know, I did not make this map. I made: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Russo-Ukraine_Conflict_(2014-present).svg Rr016 (talk) 22:20, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Viewsridge: Thanks for adding a data source, but linking to the homepage of the news org is unfortunately not specific enough to verify the information. Can you please provide a more specific link? ― Tartan357 Talk 09:20, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, it is on the given websites Twitter account, https://twitter.com/BNONews/status/1496750027687206917. Viewsridge (talk) 09:23, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yellow and red areas

[edit]

Russia is in grey, Crimea is not Russia but under Russian occupation. And of course is Ukraine more than the yellow area. The way this map is now is Russian point of view. NNW 13:17, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

NNW I've changed the wording to address the issue. Viewsridge (talk) 15:22, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The green should say Rest of Ukraine, or unoccupied Ukraine. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Damián A. Fernández Beanato (talk • contribs) 15:27, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Correct, Ukraine is yellow + red. NNW 15:32, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Do you really see yellow instead of green? --Damián A. Fernández Beanato (talk) 15:38, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Otherwise I wouldn't call it yellow. :o) It looks like mustard to me. Anyway: the not-red areas. NNW 15:58, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Territorial Update

Color change suggest

[edit]

So i suggest to change the colors of the map for better delimitation.
Option 1 is leave Ukraine in yellow and Crimea and the Donbas separatist regions in red, but the territories occupied after the 24th of february in orange or something. People not informed about the 2014 situation may actually think that Crimea and Donbas where taken today, specially where the file in english lenguage is put in a foreign lenguage wikipedia where the reader may not understand the legend. Option 2 is just for visual look improve, softer colors like Ukraine in blue, prior 24th occupied territories in red and after 24th occupied territories in rose, orange or yellow.

Since the 24th you mean… --Damián A. Fernández Beanato (talk) 19:15, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I completely agree. The borders in Donbass and Crimea pre-February 24 should be shown. Colin dm (talk) 22:22, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Support. Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk should be in other colors. --魔琴 (talk) 22:57, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Various sources

[edit]

Below, an editable list of sources for Ukraine invasion maps. Based on Lisa Charlotte Muth (@lisacmuth)'s Twitter threat.

Wikipedia maps shouldn't copy maps even from even reliable media. The reasoning is well explained here. The map should copy from the official detailed Wikipedia map Colin dm (talk) 22:38, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

What to do if Ukraine gains ground in Russia or Belarus

[edit]

If Ukraine (although unlikely) move the frontline onto Russian or Belarusian soil, should the map with be updated with high detail in Russia & Belarus like in Ukraine?--Physeters (talk) 00:25, 25 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Crimea railways

[edit]

Since either 2014 or 2015, both railway connections between Crimea and mainland Ukraine have been cut off, and the tracks have been disassembled (see OSM). Please correct this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Szmenderowiecki (talk • contribs) 00:43, 25 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
