Crimea

[edit]

It looks like Crimea's colour is identical to Russia's. Please consider changing it (e.g. File talk:2018 FIFA World Cup qualification map.png#Crimea in grey) to maintain the most neutral point of view possible. Centaur271188 (talk) 06:55, 23 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Now the color of the Crimea is averaged between Russian color and Ukrainian color. Gray color does not show a neutral point of view in this case (Ukraine is also gray), unlike the one indicated. An alternative option may be hatching. --Insider (talk) 06:55, 25 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Insider: In that previous discussion, I suggested using sporting point of view (specifically UEFA's, i.e. Crimea is neither Ukrainian nor Russian) to separate Crimea from both countries. I think we can do the same here, draw an approximate border line between Crimea and Ukraine, then use gray for Crimea. Does it make sense? Centaur271188 (talk) 09:24, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I think hatching the area would be the best solution. Crimea does not officially participate as a separate team (like Kosovo, Scotland, etc.). Therefore, drawing it separately is not entirely true. But one can not ignore the situation after 2014. --Insider (talk) 11:47, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Insider and Centaur271188: Source directly from FIFA concerning Crimea from the 66th FIFA Congress; Crimea is mentioned twice on page 22. Another source from the New York Times. Crimea is effectively in limbo, as far as FIFA is concerned. Either gray-scaling it and giving it its own selection, or showing it as a disputed territory (whether hatched or of average color between Ukraine and Russia) would seem to be ideal.
I just updated the map. Underneath a grayed out Crimea with a border with Ukraine, layered beneath it is a yellow Crimea grouped with Russia (its 50% transparent) and beneath that is the original, gray, 'Crimea is part of Ukraine'. I would hatch it myself, but I do not know how to do so in Inkscape (the .svg program I use) —SPESH531Other 00:11, 7 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

French Guiana

[edit]

@Keanu Ariel: (or someone else) They have a separate team who compete in CONCACAF and Caribbean tournaments, therefore they should not have France's colour. Use gray for them, please. Centaur271188 (talk) 07:11, 1 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Keanu Ariel has done it. In addition, I went ahead and split more of the nations that have their own teams. —SPESH531Other 00:12, 7 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
