4HBCT

[edit]

The infantry battalion assigned to 4HBCT is actually 4-6 Infantry, not 2-6 Infantry. Also, both the armor and infantry battalions in HBCTs are actually Combined Arms Battalions. The Armor and Infantry designators are used for lineage purposes only. The APA-6 graphic for a CAB is slightly different. Check out FM 3-90.5.

Regiment or Battalion

[edit]

Nice drawing, but I am confused about strips above units. Units drawn with two stripes (battalion) on top of their unit symbol are said to be regiment. I am used to see three stripes above regiment unit symbols. --Malin Tokyo (talk) 03:40, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

3rd IBCT

[edit]

3rd IBCT is currently disbanding. It has already begun to return its equipment and reassign its soldiers to the other brigades in the division. In a few weeks it will be entirely gone. Noclador (talk) 16:00, 21 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

3rd HBCT

[edit]

On 15th April 2015 the 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat was deactivated and the 4th Heavy Brigade Combat Team was reflagged as the 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team. At the ceremony 2nd Battalion, 29th Field Artillery Regiment was also deactivated. 4th Battalion, 1st Artillery Regiment and 1st Battalion, 41st Infantry Regiment were re-assigned to 4th Heavy Brigade Combat Team prior to it being reflagged as the 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team. The OOB for the 3 HBCT is now:

4th Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment (CAB)
1st Battalion, 77th Armor Regiment (CAB)
1st Battalion, 41st Infantry Regiment (Unknown whether straight infantry or now equipped as a CAB)
4th Battalion, 1st Artillery Regiment (Self Propelled)
2nd Squadron, 13th Cavalry Regiment
123rd Brigade Support Battalion

At this time I do no know if 3rd Brigade has reflagged it's Special Troops Battalion to a Brigade Engineer Battalion.

I am former member of both 4-6 INF and 1-77 AR and I was present at the deactivation ceremony.
