Description
Deutsch: DLR-Wissenschaftler Martin Frassl steuert ein unbemanntes Luftfahrzeug (UAVs - unmanned aerial vehicle) des DLR, um die Lage im Kraftwerk zu erkunden. Menschen können die Gebäude aufgrund der Einsturzgefahr nicht selbst erkunden. Am 11. Juli 2011 explodierten in einem Marinestützpunkt auf der Insel Zypern 98 Munitionscontainer. Hierbei kamen 13 Menschen ums Leben. Ein nahe gelegenes 793 Megawatt Kraftwerk, das für 50 Prozent der Energieversorgung Zyperns verantwortlich ist, wurde stark beschädigt. Im Rahmen einer europäischen Hilfsaktion flogen am 22. Juli 2011 drei Mitarbeiter des DLR nach Zypern.
