English: An Aichi D3A1 Type 99 carrier bomber (dive bomber) kanbaku carrying a bomb takes off from the Imperial Japanese Navy aircraft carrier Zuikaku on May 8, 1942 to attack United States Navy aircraft carrier forces during the Battle of the Coral Sea. This aircraft's tail code is EII-206 and the single horizontal stripe underneath the tail code indicates that it is flown by a section leader (shōtaichō). The double vertical white stripe around the rear end of fuselage is Zuikaku identifier. |
