Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Trinity, on the left across the street, and Zion, on the right in the foreground, are geographically the two closest Lutheran churches in Western New York. Trinity was founded in 1883, and is the older of the two congregations. Zion formed out of Trinity in the late 19th Century due to a split over whether it was a sin to purchase life insurance - Trinity said it was; those members which formed Zion disagreed. Trinity remains an active congregation affiliated with the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. Zion, which, through mergers, became affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, closed in 2022 and merged into Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Farnham.
