Description

ZeroHour Climate March in Pittsburgh!

In the words of the organizers of this event: On July 21, youth all over the United States will march for the demands that were delivered to our leaders in Washington D.C. This is a call to our politicians to stand with us and with our future. Pittsburgh will host a sister march downtown at 12 PM!

We will be starting at at Senator Toomey's office (310 Grant Street) and marching past the office of County Executive Rich Fitzgerald and Mayor Peduto. Along the way we will be hear from incredible young activists working in our region. Our action will highlight the voices and stories of youth on the frontlines of the climate crisis.

We will end in Mellon Square. There, we will celebrate our work, our power and build community. There will be food trucks, festivities, and fun because this movement is built around hope! The young people in this country and this region and rising- join us! While we are centering youth voices everyone is welcome!

In Pittsburgh we ask that our elected official on every level of government stand with us and enact strong climate policy - 1. Mayor Peduto speak out against the proposed Shell Ethane Cracker Plant in Beaver County because of the devastating effects it will have on the city of Pittsburgh. 2. County Executive Fitzgerald stop the expansion of fracking in Allegheny County and form a committee focused on finding renewable energy and clean industry alternatives for Allegheny County. 3. Senate Toomey stand with science and state his belief in climate change science and vote to support the EPA and fund climate science in Washington DC.
