Summary
[edit]DescriptionZen-Master-Hakuin-Ekaku-Self-Portrait-1767.png |
English: Self-portrait of Zen master Hakuin Ekaku In the 18th century Hakuin revived the Rinzai school. His influence was so immense that almost all contemporary Rinzai lineages are traced back to him. Self-portrait (1767), one width and paper this coloring · 133.3x57.0cm. Ryutakuji (Shizuoka Prefecture). In Zen Buddhism, there is a custom called Chinsou, in which a teacher gives a portrait of himself to his disciples as a license, and although a professional painter usually draws it, Hakuin drew it himself.
