JPEG file comment | ZEMPLÉNYI Tivadar
(1864, Eperjes - 1917, Budapest) Szegény asszony otthona 1895 Olaj, vászon, 150 x 130 cm Magyar Nemzeti Galéria, Budapest Zemplényi korai, egy-két alakos képeinek témáit a magyar paraszt, a szegény emberek mindennapi életébõl merítette. Gyakran választott fáradt, ráncos öregasszonyokat modellként. Ezen a képen a tárgyak, a kívülrõl jövõ fénytõl megvilágítva, harmonikusan illeszkednek a barna tónusú naturalista festménybe. A színek megfelelnek a téma által bemutatott reménytelenségnek és magányosságnak. ZEMPLÉNYI, Tivadar (1864, Eperjes - 1917, Budapest) The Poor Woman's Home 1895 Oil on canvas, 150 x 130 cm Hungarian National Gallery, Budapest This painting won the award of Mûbarátok (Friends of Art) at the Spring Exhibition of Mûcsarnok (Palace of Exhibitions). In his early, one or two-figure compositions Zemplényi depicted the everyday life of Hungarian peasantry, and the circumstances of the impoverished people. Most often he chose tired and wrinkled old ladies as models. The objects - illuminated by the light coming from outside - fit harmoniously in the brownish tone of the naturalistic painting. The colours of the painting correspond with the sentiments aroused by the theme: the depiction of desolation, loneliness, and transitoriness. Type: genre Time-line: 1876-1900 Form: painting |
