English: The signature of Polish physician with PhD and sportsman, 1LT of the reserve Julian Gruner (1898-1940), who together with nearly 22 thousand other Poles is the victim of the Soviet crime against the Polish nation collectively called the Katyn Massacre and committed at Stalin's orderd in April and May 1940.
The signature comes from a postcard Dr. Gruner wrote to his wife Maria from the NKVD camp for the Polish PoWs at Starobielsk. Tje postcard is dated 8 Dec. 1939, meaning that Dr. Gruner only had 4 to 5 more month left to live, before NKVD officials murdered him with a shot in the head from behind. The bottom most parts of the initial and final letter of the signature appear this way (cut) in the source, from which they have been scanned.Polski: Podpis Juliana Grunera (1898-1940), polskiego lekkoatlety, doktora nauk medycznych i porucznika, ofiary Zbrodni Katyńskiej zabitego w Charkowie.
Podpis pochodzi z kartki pocztkowej, którą dr Gruner wysłał 8 grudnia 1939 roku, wtedy już jeniec obozu NKWD w Strobielsku, do swojej żony Marii... Miał wtedy tylko 4-5 miesięcy życia przed sobą... Dolne części pierwszej i ostatniej litery podpisu są już ucięte w książce, z której zostały zeskanowane. |
