Description
English: "A Memorial" from Heinrich Günther-Gera. The model for a memorial to pay hommage to married couple Zabel from Gera. Shown at the "Grosse Berliner Kunst-Ausstellung" from 1897. The memorial was inaugurated 24. Sept. 1895 in Gera near the building of the Zabel-School. It was disassembled during WW II.
Deutsch: "Denkmal" von Heinrich Günther-Gera. Das Foto zeigt das ausgearbeitete Modell des Denkmals, das das Ehepaar Zabel aus Gera ehrt. Aufgenommen auf der "Grossen Berliner Kunst-Ausstellung" von 1897. Das Denkmal war aus Stein mit einem Halbrelief des Stifterehepaares. Unter dem Halbrelief befand sich eine Blattgirlande. An der Stele lehnte ein damals moderner Perlkranz mit Schleife und Bändern. Eine allegorische Szene in der ein Mädchen und eine Jugendliche die Girlande mit einem Palmwedel und frischen Rosen schmücken wurde als metallene Plastik ausgeführt. Bereits seit der Enthüllung am 24. September 1895 stand das Zabel-Denkmal am Schulgebäude von der 'Zabelsche höhere Töchter-Schule'. Während des 2. Weltkriegs wurde es demontiert.
