[edit]
Description

Chinese name: 中兴旗舰A9 (zhōngxìng qíjiàn A9) Year of launch: 2000 (Admiral A9: 2009)

ZX Auto (Hebei Zhongxing Automobile) is a small manufacturer of pick-ups and SUVs. Zhongxing produces and was founded in 1999. The Admiral was launched in 2000 and is based on a fifth generation Toyota Hilux (1988-1997) platform and has a 2.2-litre petrol engine, both produced under license. It was sold as pick-up and SUV. ZX Auto still produces pick-ups including the new, huge Terralord (copy of the old Toyota Tundra) and Grand Tiger (known for its role during the civil war in Libya, where Grand Tigers mounted with guns were used by the anti-Qaddafi-rebels and later on pro-Qaddafi forces as well). ZX Auto launched a brand new model in 2013, the compact crossover C3 and GX3 Urban Ark.

The Admiral A9 is the refreshed version of the Admiral. The SUV version was discontinued, it only came as pick-up.
