Summary
[edit]DescriptionZEUS-Event.jpg |
English: This event was recorded in the ZEUS detector when a proton and a positron (antiparticle of the electron) were brought to collision. Key information could be obtained from the measured track directions and particle energies. In this case, it was the reaction of a heavy quark. Characteristic are two jets (particle bundles travelling in the same direction, the red lines being the tracks of the individual particles) and one muon – a particle that can penetrate dense layers of material without being absorbed and that can only be detected in the outer layers (muon chambers and instrumented iron yoke) of the detector (data taking in January 2004). |
