| Description |
English: The City of Youngstown was awarded a Clean Ohio Revitalization Fund grant to complete remediation and demolition activities at the former Demsey Steel property. The property has an industrial and commercial history dating back to the mid-1950's when General Steel Industries operated a warehouse for steel mills and steel brokers. The property was later acquired by Demsey Steel Company, which operated a steel and warehouse facility. The site was purchased by the City in 2009. The grant will be used to remediate impacted soils, remove asbestos and waste, and demolish all existing buildings. Following remediation, Vallourec and Mannesmann Star plans to use the site as a tractor trailer staging area near its steel operation and new office facility. |
