(26.19 cm x 21.11 cm) Credit Line: Bequest of Mrs. Cora Timken Burnett Label Copy: "One of the pioneering artists of Ukiyo-e, Harunobu perfected the art of the full-color print, which was called nishiki-e or brocade print. Here, with his typically subdued color palette and lyrical composition he has depicted a quiet drama in an interior scene. A young woman loosely clad in an autumnal kimono intently reads a letter, while an older woman lies sleeping in the background. A sliding screen used to partition the bedroom is painted with elements of a rocky landscape and is signed with the name of the artist." Label Copy (Spanish): "Harunobu, uno de los pioneros del Ukiyo-e perfeccion el arte del grabado a todo color llamado nishiki-e o grabado de brocado. Aqu, con su tpica paleta de colores tenues y composicin lrica represent un drama taciturno en un espacio interior. Una joven vestida en un holgado kimono de otoo, lee una carta atentamente mientras una mujer mayor duerme en el fondo. Una pantalla corrediza utilizada para dividir la recmara est pintada con los elementos de un paisaje rocoso y firmada con el nombre del artista."
