Here, with his typically subdued color palette and lyrical composition he has depicted a quiet drama in an interior scene. A young woman loosely clad in an autumnal kimono intently reads a letter, while an older woman lies sleeping in the background. A sliding screen used to partition the bedroom is painted with elements of a rocky landscape and is signed with the name of the artist."
