English: Four-year-old pilot for the day Evan Krogen, of West Fargo, N.D., right, takes control of the business end of a fire hose May 27 at the North Dakota Air National Guard, Fargo, N.D. He is being assisted on the fire hose by Staff Sgt. Chad Noyes, of the 119th Civil Engineer Squadron. The pilot for the day program treats children who are fighting or have overcome a life-threatening illness or condition to a special tour at a military base. Krogen was promoted to the honorary rank of general for the day and had the opportunity to experience what it is like to do many of the jobs at the North Dakota Air National Guard, including pilot, fire fighter, and explosives specialist. The young boy is currently in remission from acute lymphoblastic leukemia, and is being given the special day to take his mind off of the on-going treatments. |
