Rows of grave markers are flush with short turf in a cemetery. In the rear center, a lodge and smaller brick shed stand near a brick perimeter wall. A flag and several trees and shrubs stand in the cemetery.

Yorktown National Cemetery was established in 1866 by the War Department to inter and commemorate Union soldiers who died during the battle and other Civil War conflicts that occurred in the vicinity of the town.
