Summary
[edit]DescriptionYork destructor chimney. - geograph.org.uk - 927933.jpg |
English: York destructor chimney. Listed grade II and since preserved alongside a modern Morrisons supermarket. A magnificent example with an ornate cap. It was of interest in that it was painted in camouflage colours in WWII (yes really) and the pattern is barely discernible in this view. There's a photograph of it in Our Grimy Heritage by Walter Pickles (mentioned several times on Geograph). |
