Animal characteristics: Head-Body Length: 56-79 cm; Height: 42-60 cm; Weight: 12-14 kg; Identification: The yellow baboon has a yellowish coat, a naked black face with prominent facial ridges, and an upturned nose; Habitat: Savannas, woodlands, forest edges; Diet: Omnivore: grass, fruit, seeds, insects, hares and young ungulates; Reproduction: The female yellow baboon gives birth every two years. Their gestation period is 180 days long, after which they bear one offspring; Social Structure: Yellow baboons live in large, mixed and informal groups; Behavior: Yellow baboons are highly gregarious and social, where they live in troops of 15-100 individuals. In the troop, all adult males are dominant over females, a status achieved in their fifth year. There is a strict rank among the adult males, where the dominant male determines when the troop will move; Status: No special status; Interesting Facts: Yellow baboons are the fourth largest primate found in Africa.
