English: The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Terra satellite captured this natural-color image of an Von Karman Vortex street of Yakushima Island, Japan, on November 12, 2012.
Yakushima is the round-shaped island on the top left of the image. Von Karman Vortices often appear off Jeju do, or Yakushima, with an average of Three or four occurrence every September to November, with the peak happening from November to March. |
