Description
English: the cutter Uvira (William Fife design, built in 1890 at Black & Co., Southampton) and John Rogers Maxwell's steel schooner Emerald (Henry C. Wintringham design, built in 1893 at the Samuel L Moore Sons shipyard, Elizabethport). Pictured here racing for the Atlantic Yacht Club Commodore George J. Gould cup races, which the Emerald won for the schooners. The Uvira also won in class 5 sloops.
